The wish (from the validated fiction). Security/safety's wish: to be safe — a dreaded harm held off. Its wish-valence guard: safety is earned through a real defense against a real threat, at cost. On the page (Treasure Island, #120), the besieged are made safe only by a real wall ("too strong to pull down without time and labour") held at the price of Redruth's life; in The Three Little Pigs (Project Gutenberg #7439) the brick house earns its safety while the straw and furze houses — safety-theater — are blown in and their builders eaten.
The hinge: the dark twin grants slot 3 while skipping slot 2. Security's slot 2 is the real defense — a genuine wall against a genuine threat, built and held at cost. The recruitment move keeps the slot-3 payoff (you are safe, protected) but skips the building: it manufactures or inflates the threat and supplies protection by submission — you are kept safe not by any defense you raise but by surrendering yourself to a protector who "keeps them all in awe." Counterfeit safety: the protected feeling without the real defense — the badge of "you are safe with us" pointed inward as the demand for obedience.
The counterfeit in the wild. The documented ancestor is Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan (1651, Project Gutenberg #3207) — the foundational security-for-submission argument. First it makes the threat maximal, the state of nature a war "such a warre, as is of every man, against every man" (ll. 4016–4017) where life is "continuall feare, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short" (ll. 4042–4044). Then it names the redeeming passion: "The Passions that encline men to Peace, are Feare of Death" (l. 4112). Then it supplies the counterfeit — safety bought not by any defense the subject builds but by total surrender to "a common Power to keep them all in awe" (l. 5581), the sovereign whose whole office is "the procuration of the Safety Of The People" (l. 11033). The threat is inflated to the limit precisely so the surrender looks rational.
The contemporary form. The present-day vector is the strongman / security-state / protection-racket pitch — "only we can keep you safe; they are coming for you; surrender X and you'll be protected." The manufactured or inflated threat plus protection-by-submission; the doomsday-cult ("only inside our compound do you survive") is the same grammar at small scale.
Boundary — security's face, not purity's, not mastery's. The payoff identity sold is "I am safe / protected" (freedom from harm), not "I am clean / undefiled" (purity — freedom from contamination; the threat there is defilement, not violence) and not "I am one of the fit" (mastery — earned capability). The Treasure Island specimen makes the separation from purity sharp: a log wall against murderers carries zero defilement valence. Security/safety isolated from purity on its first specimen — where purity itself had to be hunted across three texts before the ritual register isolated it. That is the answer to the open bundling question: prevention-pole engines do not bundle as a rule; purity's fusions were specific to contamination being an intrinsically boundary/disgust phenomenon, not a property of the pole.
The dual-use point. Security's benign face is the real defense of real people against real harm (the stockade; the brick house; actual protection that addresses an actual threat). Its counterfeit grants the feeling of safety without the real defense — safety by submission to a protector, with the threat inflated to compel the surrender. Same wish (to be safe), opposite value-flow.
Value-flow gate (subjective, per the README). Benign when the safety-wish enables real defense against a real threat (you build the wall, you address the actual danger). Dark — recruitment — when "only we can keep you safe" substitutes for any real defense and licenses the surrender of liberty (or the extraction of obedience, money, or scapegoats) to a protector whose threat is manufactured or inflated.
Verdict. Security/safety's counterfeit is shown on a page (Hobbes). With two specimens (Treasure Island, The Three Little Pigs — the second isolating the wish-valence guard as its plot), fillable slots, a wish-valence guard, and this counterfeit shown, it meets the promotion bar as the second prevention-pole engine. The README confirmed-table row and the runtime engines.json face_terms are the remaining mechanical step (proposed, pending).
