The bead. A being of godlike power chooses to live among us as a meek nobody, and the wish it pays is the daydream of being secretly, limitlessly more than you appear.
Engines. Apotheosis and impunity are two structurally distinct engines co-running at route-3 (fictional worldbuilding-bearer-realizable) — the superhero/cape register's signature stack.
- apotheosis · content · spine · ~ — the godlike-form / ascended-being shape: Superman as the Kryptonian who has ascended beyond typical-human form. The viewer's payout includes the imagined-experience of inhabiting the ascended-body. Spine genuinely contested with impunity and the double life — Donner's film is as much about Clark as about the cape, and as much about acts-without-typical-consequence as about ascended-form.
- impunity · content · spine · ~ — at route-3 sub-variant A (invulnerability) plus sub-variant C (consequence-reversibility, in the film's reverse-time-to-save-Lois ending). Held back by typical-human consequence (bullets, mortality, accountability); released by Kryptonian biology (sub-variant A) plus the act-defying physical-law capability (sub-variant C — reversing Earth's rotation to undo Lois's death is the cleanest possible consequence-reversibility-impunity beat ever filmed); payout = acts-without-typical-consequence, both in-the-moment and retroactively-edited. The "godlike body itself" wish the original review named for apotheosis includes the impunity-shape that the catalog now distinguishes.

The bundle (revised — five engines, not four). The Superman stack looks like six engines, the previous review reduced to four by collapsing two pairs (being-desired into double-life, repricing into double-life). The 2026-06-05 impunity retag adds one back: apotheosis and impunity were collapsed in the original tagging and now split. The corrected count is five engines: apotheosis + impunity + the double life + legacy + belonging, all clearing the wish-valence guard. This breaks the 2-hour-runtime "4-plateau" finding documented at-148 — a fictional film with worldbuilding-real impunity-shape can carry five engines because the impunity and apotheosis are co-located in the same bearer and the viewer inhabits both via the same POV without crowding-out. Methodological finding: the 4-plateau holds under disciplined tagging when impunity isn't co-located with apotheosis in the same bearer; the Superman case shows that double-loading the same bearer with two engines whose payouts share the same imagined-experience (impunity + apotheosis = the godlike-body wish) lets the stack break 4 in the runtime-budget. Being-desired stays cut (Lois desires Superman, not Clark — guard fails). Repricing stays cut (the receipt is never delivered as Clark — the secret is kept; folds into double life).
Discriminator finding. Superman is the cleanest single-case specimen of route-3 sub-variants A + C running co-located in one bearer. The film's reverse-time-to-save-Lois ending is the catalog's purest sub-variant-C beat in any film. The impunity transmits to the viewer via POV-inhabitation; no operational tactics are required.
Dual-use read. Apotheosis's counterfeit is the "unlock your god-mode / realize your divinity" grift (Trine's New Thought, counterfeit-catalog); the double life's is the "you are secretly extraordinary, the sheeple can't see it" flattery. Superman sits on the enabling side — the power serves a chosen restraint and an ideal — but it is the cleanest fictional statement of both wishes the counterfeits hijack.
Verdict. The maximal-stack test for the catalog: the ur-superhero, naively "all the engines," lands at a disciplined four — because the wish-valence guards dissolve being-desired and repricing into the double life. Evidence that the apparent 5–6-engine bundle is facet-double-counting, and that four is holding as the real ceiling.
